The main objective of this project is to provide 15 undergraduate students from different areas of Sri Lanka with knowledge of New media and its importance to civic engagement and democracy of the country.
DEMOCRACY AND NEW MEDIA IN SRI LANKA – THE SEMINAR SESSION
The Seminar session will be conducted in one day and with three guest speakers. Each speaker will conduct the seminar session specializing in their fields. These seminars are based on the themes on New media and its use in Sri Lanka, Youth Leadership and new media technology. At the end of seminar session participants are expected to create a blog society incorporating new media technologies and carry out a weekly updated blog about the currents events in Sri Lanka and discussing the state of press freedom in Sri Lanka.
COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM
In this project, participants will have to work and interact with the residents in Victoria orphanage .The community service session will be conducted in two days and participants will take part in full day community service.
